Breanne Pflanz

Owner

As a registered nurse, Breanne Pflanz noticed that many of her patients’ trips to the hospital could be prevented. The desire to keep her patients out of the hospital led her to a career as a nurse practitioner. By stressing prevention, Breanne wanted her patients to learn more about their own bodies.

After nine years as a nurse practitioner, working in both a hospital and private practice setting, Breanne decided to open her own business, Balanced You Medical Wellness. She says every patient is not the same and not every diet or treatment will work for everyone, and that’s what she loves about her job. She enjoys customizing every plan to help each individual patient.

“I want to bring in new products, new ideas and a new you to cope with 2020,” Breanne says.

Hormone replacement is a major part of what she does at Balanced You but that’s not all she does. Breanne understands that everyone has different needs. She offers services from hormone replacement, weight management, aesthetics or even just some ideas to try to find life balance.

“Patients come in and feel lost,” Breanne says. “The doctors tell them there’s nothing wrong with them, but they don’t feel fine. They don’t feel normal. But seeing them grow and how they feel after my treatments is the most rewarding part of my job.”

Breanne says that hormone therapy is very controversial in the medical community, but she hopes to change this perception.

“There’s been some past studies that had some flaws that viewed hormones as a bad thing,” Breanne says. “Now more and more studies are coming out showing that it’s beneficial, but it’s the challenge of going back and trying to change the medical communities mind, that if done properly and appropriately, that this could be a very good option for the right person.”

Breanne says she hopes that with her techniques, she can change people’s minds, that there are more options than keeping problems inside just because someone might say there’s nothing wrong.

Part of Breanne’s job is to travel to Red Oak, Iowa to see patients.

Breanne dedicates time to go see rural patients who are curious about hormone therapy.  She wants to educate them and help them feel better as well. In addition to keeping her patients from having to drive to Omaha, her travel allows her to see more patients.

Breanne recalls running into a former patient that she met nine years ago.

“She hadn’t seen me in years but when she found out I was traveling to Red Oak, she was so excited she drove down and started treatment again and that’s pretty cool,” Breanne says.

Breanne not only helps others get to know their body better and to feel better, but she lives what she teaches. She enjoys time at the lake with her husband, Nick, and two children, Katie, 10 and Kristen, 6. She says it’s good for the body to get outdoors, have fun and release daily stress, especially in the midst of a pandemic.

“Prioritize the day,” Breanne says about finding balance. “Figure out the most important thing for the day and stick with it.”
